Last Coal
Ink on cloth canvas
2023
Stamp and India ink reproduction of a mine in Australia, also known as the Super Pit. 3.5 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide, its deepest point lies at around 600 meters, creating a gigantic crater crowned by numerous slopes giving rise to an impressive terraced structure. So impressive, in fact, that the site is a veritable tourist attraction in the region. The illusion of the image is achieved by repeating almost 29,000 pads in the shape of small electric cars. Although a more environmentally-friendly alternative to the internal combustion engine, the electric car nevertheless consumes a great deal of energy and materials of all kinds, particularly during the manufacturing process.
