Trace
Ink on cloth canvas
2025
“Trace” is a reproduction of the Corbassière glacier located in Valais. The work is created using text from the summary of the COP29 climate conference, stamped letter by letter (35,000 in total), word by word, in Indian ink. By playing with the intensity of the ink, the glacier takes shape. The text becomes relief and political language is transformed into visual material. The work “Trace” questions the significance of words in the face of the climate emergency. It superimposes an optimistic global discourse on a much less reassuring reality on the ground. The recent case of Blatten, swallowed up by the Birch glacier, reminds us that the process has begun and that the time for talk is over.
